DOCUMENTARY FAMILY PHOTOSHOOTS

Family photography: forget stiff and awkward posing on a white background with big lights: let's have some fun! There's no set agenda with these sessions except to present the beauty of normality. Whether you have a sleepy newborn or a tearaway almost-teenager, I want to capture a snapshot of your lives and give you some real and heartwarming images representing your daily life. It's a cliché, but childhood is fleeting. You'll look back on the photographs and remember with fondness the chubby arms and impossibly soft feet; the carefree fun and inhibition of a gap-toothed 7 year old; the moments you can't go back to but will remember, and treasure, forever. 

I have over 10 years of experience shooting weddings and families as well as two children of my own, so I’m well versed in photographing reluctant toddlers (and grown-ups), under adverse weather conditions, in loud or chaotic environments and with temperamental babies (and grown-ups). I work with natural light to keep the shoot as relaxed as possible and it can be done at your own home or an outdoors location. You might be wondering what happens if your child throws a wobbler during the shoot, and I can tell you now not to worry. Firstly, I’ve done many shoots where children aren’t feeling it, and the trick is simply to take the pressure off and be led by them. Snacks and favourite toys (and sometimes tv!) can be really useful tools, and waiting until they’re a bit more relaxed before trying again to get a whole family shot. Secondly, I wouldn’t leave a shoot unless I felt sure I had some excellent photos for you, so if that takes us over our allotted time it’s no problem.

Photoshoot session fee: £95 (weekdays) / £110 (weekends)*

  • A one hour photoshoot in a location of your choice

  • Pets welcome and wholeheartedly included

  • Travel within 1 hour of SM4

  • 75-100 high quality, digitally processed images to choose from

*This fee covers the session only; digital image downloads and prints must be purchased separately.

FURTHER INFORMATION

  • Availability on weekends is limited, particularly between April and October

  • Shoots further than 1 hour may incur a fee towards travel/time costs

  • Prints, albums and other photo products may be ordered directly from the gallery and can include images other than your chosen downloads

  • Shoot fee payment is required no later than the date of the shoot

  • Minimum spend is Option 1 (£155) but packages can be upgraded once the photos have been delivered

  • Images delivered via the online gallery will be watermarked; this will be removed for your chosen downloads

  • Images will only be shared on social media or website with your permission

  • Locations requiring a photo licence will need to be paid for by you, e.g. National Trust properties
